Here in Los Angeles, there are a plethora of amazing houses precariously perched on the hillsides of Hollywood, Pacific Palisades and Malibu. Striking to look at, the thought "earthquake" is never far from one's mind, however.
But earthquakes aren't a likely problem for the Balancing Barn. Built by MVDRV of Rotterdam and British firm Mole Architects, the cantilevered house resides in Suffolk, England (a considerably low risk earthquake zone). Incredibly, more than 50% of the 30 meter long structure is suspended in air! Click through for more details on the project.

The idea may be cool and all, but the house itself looks awful on the outside.
Actually, it's pretty smart, the shiny paint keeps out a majority of the heat from the sun, keeping it nice on the inside! Definitely shouldn't hold any parties in that thing though, the bouncing might accidentally tip it down the hill, and then it's disaster from there. Who needs an earthquake? All you need is a bunch of drunk teenagers!
The reflective walls help camouflage the house by reflecting the surrounding area..I bet you'd really have to look hard to see it from a distance...
cool gud idea! 2 in 1 infact
