The best way to make the piping is to take the fabric, roughly a square of it, and cut diagonally into strips. Then sew the strips end to end. This means the fabric strip is now on the bias (diagonal) and has a great deal of stretch to turn corners, preventing the bunching seen on this ottoman. Insert the cording and sew away! Since she used a stripe, the diagonal cuts will make for an interesting piped border.
