So you want custom shelves.. they have to hold weight, be reconfigurable, and be able to move. Are you a college student? There are several options:

Milk crates are very strong, can double as packing crates, and are given away for free by some stores. Others require a small fee for them.

Cinderblocks and plywood make a very nice strong shelf. Its a little ugly, but very strong. It's also very inexpensive.

  • Determine your specifications in terms of cost, beauty and load before you choose a construction method. Form follows function so define the function first.
